About Our Department

Advancing the Future of Medical Education

The Department of Medical Education (DME) at Sahara Medical College (SMC) serves as the academic engine and quality benchmark for medical pedagogy, curriculum design, faculty development, and educational assessment across the institution.

Recognizing that modern healthcare requires a shift from traditional rote learning to competency-based, outcome-oriented medical practice, the DME plays a pivotal role in aligning SMC's undergraduate and postgraduate training with national standards set by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore.

The department operates as an institutional catalyst, fostering evidence-based medical education, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and a vibrant academic culture among faculty and trainees.
